After my blogposts on Powerbeats2 Wireless Bluetooth headphones, Apple Watch Sport Edition and an e-mail that was sent to Apple top-management team, I had very nice conversation with one of the Apple's executive representative.
Short summary of that conversation - the feedback was carefully reviewed and issues will be communicated to the teams. I know they have done that (don't ask me how I know).
Today, I woke up to the news that Apple issues rare recall on Beats Pill XL Bluetooth speaker, due to, quote:
'Apple has determined that, in rare cases, the battery in the Beats Pill XL may overheat and pose a fire safety risk. The recall does not affect any other Beats or Apple products.'
Batteries are hard to make, especially in case-less design.
It is good that Apple shuts down Beats products that potentially can cause such damage. I'm pretty sure that the same battery tech is been used in their other wireless products, but given that Beats Pill XL is the largest unit with high-capacity battery, it posed more danger to it's users in some cases. I also suspect that the same defect contributed to Powerbeats2 Wireless failures, if you are a frequent flyer and unit is exposed to the altitude changes.
Very few companies can publicly admit their failures. I'm glad Apple listens to the voice of their customers, even if that voice - is a sarcastic rant of an old man.
Have a nice day.
